Energetic Practice 4 – Water

“We are beginning to learn that our brains are hardwired to react positively to water and that being near it can calm and connect us, increase innovation and insight, and even heal what’s broken.”

Wallace J. Nichols, Marine Biologist.

In our ever busy lives, we do not give our minds a chance to rest and wander wild and free. But when we do, it switches us to a daydreaming state, one of imagination and introspection. This mode is critical for embodiment of love and life force energy.

There is a saying about our best ideas appearing while we are in the shower. And that’s because it’s true! In the shower, under the water, our minds go ‘blue’. We have nothing to do but BE. The shower is a stand-in for the ocean or a lake. It’s where insights can drop in without interference.I crave water. I stand under the shower for way longer than I should. I love the feeling of water washing over me, cleansing me, revitalising me and filling me up with inspiration.

Whenever I am feeling low or out of inspiration, whatever time of day or season, I have a shower as it’s a quick ‘reset’. Then I can make my creative moves more smoothly and from a place of inner power.Practices to try:Float, shower, surf, bathe, swim, steam, sauna or soak. Do whatever you can do to get into the water.

You could even try Watsu, aquatic massage, or just referred to as massage in water
